St. Anthony High School: 100 Years Of Tradition, Shaping Tomorrow's Leaders
By Christine Tucker
St. Anthony High School, Long Beach's oldest and only private Catholic high school, has long been an architectural gem representing academic success and athletic championships as core to our heritage. In the past four years, St. Anthony High School aggressively prioritized capital improvements and modernization of its 100-year-old campus and athletic facilities through philanthropic partnerships. After completing the first phase of a $13.5 million renovation of the school's Athletic Complex on Clark Avenue in 2023, the school's focus quickly shifted to refurbishing its historic downtown campus and iconic gymnasium. This summer's renovation, estimated at $2.7 million, carefully balanced preserving the school's landmark character while delivering modern facilities. St. Anthony High School proudly brings advanced learning experiences and technology, including "MacBook Airs for all Saints," upgraded facilities, and refreshed new athletic spaces.
These capital improvements were all made possible by the generosity of philanthropic partners, led by Shea Family Charities and our deep alumni community, which can be found throughout Long Beach, from City Hall to the Port of Long Beach and beyond.
With increasing enrollment, investments in St. Anthony High School's future signal its importance and relevance in the Long Beach community. Today, the school's mission continues to thrive as it transforms young women and men into a beacon of hope and our future leaders in a complex world - a place where they can each flourish spiritually, academically, and socially.
