“FLYING INTO THE FUTURE”

Daniel and Jaime met in 2015, at Rounding Third, a Long Beach bar. On one of their early dates, Daniel, who has his pilot’s license, flew Jaime in a plane out of Long Beach Airport. If she wasn’t won over already, that romantic gesture definitely did the trick. The two got engaged in 2022, and soon after bought a home together in Long Beach, five minutes from the airport.

When it came to picking out a venue, the couple wanted a place where their guests would walk in and immediately recognize the spot as “their” wedding. The Modern was exactly that, and unlike any other venue they had seen. 

“When we saw the big windows overlooking the Long Beach Airport, we knew it was the perfect location for us—it had such a local Long Beach vibe,” said Jaime. “Everything from the beautiful stairway to the adorable cocktail hour room, the hip bar area, and the amazing wine cellar, The Modern had so many perfect touches that really made it the only option for us to get married.” 

The couple held their rehearsal dinner at Boathouse on the Bay. And the next day, the groom and groomsmen enjoyed pre-wedding dishes at Panini Kabob Grill in LBX before heading to the venue.

Shortly after their wedding, Daniel and Jaime were elated to learn some amazing news – they were expecting a baby girl. Just a year later, the Long Beach couple is proud to share, “We have already been taken her to the aquarium and the beach. She went to the Grand Prix and we ran a 5k through Long Beach as a family.”
