FITNESS AND PICKLEBALL FOR ALL: LONG BEACH BOOTCAMP
By John Grossi

Fitness Fun
If you’ve ever seen a group of energetic locals working out at a park or beach in Long Beach, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Long Beach Boot Camp in action. Since 2005, Long Beach Boot Camp has been leading its members through group fitness classes in what owner Karolina Soltani calls, “the greatest gym in the world… outside.”
Offering various locations and workout times each week, Long Beach Boot Camp strives to “make fitness fun” while administering full body workouts in the great outdoors. Experienced trainers mix calisthenics, weight training, stretching, and often, fun games for cardio during these hour-long workouts that have hooked Long Beach residents for years! Members need only bring their own dumbbells, water, mat… and a positive attitude.

Pickleball 101
Ever looking for places where fitness and fun intersect, Long Beach Boot Camp has gone “all-in” on pickleball and invites everyone to join. “Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the nation,” says Karolina, “But there are not a lot of places to learn how to play… that’s where we come in.” In its “Pickleball 101” classes, community members learn how to play the popular game before graduating into “Pickleball 102” sessions and subsequent pickleball games.
While Long Beach has quite a few resources for retirees to learn to play pickleball, it’s tougher for those who still work during the day. If you’ve been looking for a fun way to add fitness to your routine with pickleball, but just didn’t know where to start, try a drop-in class for $15 or consider a package membership for even more savings!
Or go all-in and join the fitness side of bootcamp, and then the pickleball is free!
